"Eat The Sun"  A Film By Peter Sorcher

Mason is a modern day “sungazer” and subject of Peter Sorcher’s debut documentary film, Eat the Sun, a fascinating and thought-provoking journey into the little known world of sungazing – an ancient practice of looking directly at the sun for long periods of time.

After reading on the Internet about sungazing’s trans-formative power, Mason embraces the practices of an Indian man who goes by the acronym HRM.  HRM lays claim to a multitude of spiritual and physical benefits from staring at sun, including the loss of the desire and need to eat food.  (HRM claims that he hasn’t eaten in over 8 years; under supervision by a team of physicians, he was studied for 411 days, during which time he did not eat.)

Buoyed by Mason’s own claims, Eat The Sun follows Mason on a cross-country tour that links him with a variety of colorful sungazers:  a Hollywood lawyer, a practicing Mormon with 5 kids, a religious group founded by the real life Indiana Jones and even a sungazing ophthalmologist -- some of whom have been sungazing for over 20 years.

Mason’s quest to be a modern day pioneer ultimately pits him against himself; he struggles to come to terms with some devastating news culminating in his final decision of whether or not to complete HRM’s protocol.  But has HRM been telling the whole truth?  Is it possible?

Eat The Sun is the captivating story of one man’s struggle to uncover the truth and, ultimately, reveals the power of belief.  Fascinating and captivating, this film will challenge your deepest held beliefs.
